Description
This course is a-lined with the national course UETTDRRF02B Perform pole top rescue however this is not a Nationally Recognised course.

This course covers the performance of pole top rescue procedures as an emergency procedure required in the workplace.  It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a pole top and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution and rail works functions,  It encompasses the responsibilities for rescue, health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.


What To Expect
- Prepare to perform pole top rescue.  This will include the risk assessment and control measures taken by the individual performing the rescue and all tools and equipment are checked according to established procedures
- Carry out a pole top rescue.  This will include workplace procedure for accessing the pole top and removing the victim where necessary from contact with live apparatus, attaching equipment and lowering the victim and treatment of victim where necessary
- Securing the worksite and entry control until appropriate authorities inspect and release the site
- Processes for reporting accidents and/or incidents to authorised personnel are confirmed in accordance with established procedures

Course duration is 6 hours.

Entry Requirements
- Students are required to have the physical ability to successfully complete the practical aspects of pole top rescue and associated tasks. 

Language, Literacy and Numeracy
Language, literacy and numeracy skills are required at a level to read, complete, interpret and communicate workplace documents and procedures and perform basic calculations

Delivery Method
- Theory – classroom based, including PowerPoint presentations, trainer demonstrations and group discussions
- Practical – using safety equipment in multiple simulated work activities

Assessment Process
- Multiple choice and short answer written assessment
- Targeted questioning
- Observation of practical skills during simulated work activities

Student Must Provide
- Lunch (Maxwell Training provide coffee, tea, water and biscuits only)
- Appropriate clothing including enclosed footwear
