Description
Maxwell Training’s Warden Duties (Chief) training is a proactive course designed to prepare you for the role as Chief Warden in your workplace. Training includes preventing, preparing for and responding to emergencies, recovery from emergencies, giving instructions on the priority order for responding to the emergency and being the primary liaison with Emergency Services. By attending this course you will learn how to effectively control workplace emergencies. This course is appropriate for people requiring the skills to perform the duties of a Chief Warden in the workplace.

Demonstrating Competency
  • Prepare for workplace emergencies
  • Apply command, control and coordinate aspects of workplace emergency procedures
  • Control the response to emergency reports, signals and warnings
  • Coordinate reports and results of initial emergency response
  • Conclude incident

Entry Requirements
Students are required to have the physical ability to successfully complete the practical aspects of using equipment assigned to assist with implementing the workplace emergency procedures and the ability to take on a leadership role, which includes giving clear directions under emergency conditions, making decisions appropriate to the situation and keeping others appropriately informed

Language, Literacy and Numeracy
  • Language, literacy and numeracy skills are required at a level to read, complete, interpret and communicate workplace documents and procedures and perform basic calculations
  • Students are required to pass an LLN assessment
Delivery Method
  • Theory: classroom based, including PowerPoint presentations, trainer demonstrations and group discussions
  • Practical: using safety equipment in multiple simulated work activities
Assessment Process
  • Multiple choice and short answer written assessment
  • Targeted questioning
  • Observation of practical skills during simulated work activities
Student Must Provide
  • Lunch (Maxwell Training provide coffee, tea, water and biscuits only)
  • Appropriate clothing including enclosed footwear
  • Note: all course resource materials are provided
