Description
This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge on how to deal with fires in the workplace or the community. It includes demonstrating and explaining how to correctly and safely use portable fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and fire blankets in emergency situations.
This course is recommended for individuals who may be first responders to fire in their workplace or community setting. This can also include Fire Wardens, emergency response team members, volunteer firefighters, or those living in areas prone to bushfires.

Entry Requirements
- Students must have year 10 or equivalent
- Students must have the physical ability to successfully complete the practical aspects of lifting fire extinguishers and unrolling portable fire hoses
Language, Literacy and Numeracy
- Language, literacy and numeracy skills are required at a level to read, complete, interpret and communicate workplace documents and procedures and perform basic calculations
- Students are required to pass an LLN assessment
Delivery Method
- Theory: classroom based, including PowerPoint presentations, trainer demonstrations and group discussions
- Practical: using first attack equipment in multiple simulated work activities
