Low Volt Rescue (LVR) incl. CPR

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and UETDRMP018 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel (LVR) are nationally recognised units of competency that provide you with the critical knowledge and hands-on skills to respond to an emergency involving a live low-voltage (LV) electrical panel. You will learn how to identify life-threatening situations quickly and use CPR techniques to sustain life until professional medical help arrives.

Accredited Units of Competency

On successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for:
  • UETDRMP018 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel
  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Prerequisites

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a prerequisite for UETDRMP018 Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel and is included in this course
  • To enrol in LVR only, you must submit current evidence of HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation at enrolment for a Credit Transfer
  • Note: You must have the physical ability to perform at least two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor

What You’ll Learn

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

LVR

•     Understand the specific hazards of live LV equipment in electrical environments
•     Conduct risk assessments and apply controls
•     Inspect and use rescue kit and PPE correctly and safely
•     Identify voltage, isolate power, maintain safe distances, and follow safety protocols
•     Conduct a live LV panel rescue using approved methods safely
?•     Secure the area after the rescue and complete accurate documentation?

CPR

  • Recognise and respond to an unresponsive casualty
  • Perform CPR on adults, children, and infants following ARC guidelines
  • Use an AED to deliver a shock safely and effectively
  • Maintain continuous CPR while working with others in an emergency situation
  • Communicate effectively with emergency services and bystanders
  • Complete incident reports and workplace documentation after an emergency
  • Understand the importance of ongoing refresher training to keep your skills current

How the Training Works

Training Delivery

  • Delivered in person by a qualified trainer at one of Maxwell Training’s purpose-built simulators or an approved training facility
  • The total course duration includes practical activities and assessments
  • Learn through interactive presentations, trainer demonstrations, and realistic hands-on practical activities

Practical Activities

  • Performing CPR on adult, child, and infant manikins
  • Operating an AED
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty, including placing them in the recovery position
  • Checking and using PPE and LV rescue equipment
  • Identifying voltage
  • Locating and isolating electrical supply points
  • Conducting a Dynamic Risk Assessment (DRA)
  • Practising rescues with a mannequin from a simulated LV panel
  • Communicating with others and emergency services
  • Securing the incident site after the rescue
  • Completing workplace documentation such as risk assessments and incident reports

Assessment

  • Knowledge assessment (multiple choice and short answer)
  • Completion of a Portfolio of Evidence including workplace documents such as a Take 5 and Incident Report Form
  • Practical demonstration of a simulated rescue, CPR and use of an AED

Entry Requirements

To fully participate and stay safe during practical activities, you must meet the following requirements:

General Requirements

  • Proof of identity must be supplied and verified on the day of training
  • Minimum age of 14 years
  • Students under 18 years must provide parental consent (unless linked to an employer)
  • You need a Unique Student Identifier (USI) — apply free at www.usi.gov.au

Language, Literacy, Numeracy & Digital (LLND)

  • Read and complete knowledge questions (basic Year 10 level literacy)
  • Complete basic written reports and workplace documentation such as a Take 5 and Incident Report
  • Follow verbal and written instructions from the trainer
  • Use a digital device (tablet, smartphone, or laptop) for assessments

Physical Requirements

  • Be physically able to move quickly and safely to perform a rescue.
  • Use rescue equipment without assistance
  • Be physically able to perform CPR on the floor for at least two minutes
  • Be able to kneel, bend, and perform compressions and breaths effectively
