First Aid incl. CPR
This nationally accredited training combines HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, giving you the skills and confidence to respond effectively to life-threatening situations and a range of first aid techniques for common injuries and illnesses such as bleeding, shock, fractures, burns, asthma, anaphylaxis, seizures, and more. It is suitable for workplace compliance and for anyone wanting to be prepared to manage medical emergencies confidently and competently.

On successful completion, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for:
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

- Note: You must have the physical ability to perform at least two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin placed on the floor.

What You'll Learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
CPR
- Recognise and respond to an unresponsive casualty.
- Perform CPR on adults, children, and infants following ARC guidelines.
- Use an AED to deliver a shock safely and effectively.
- Maintain continuous CPR while working with others in an emergency situation.
- Communicate effectively with emergency services and bystanders.
- Provide a first aid response to a wide range of medical conditions, injuries, and emergencies including bleeding, shock, fractures, burns, asthma, anaphylaxis, seizures, and more.
- Complete incident reports and workplace documentation after an emergency.

How the Training Works
Training Delivery
- Delivered face-to-face by a qualified trainer at one of our approved training facilities or at your workplace.
- Training delivery includes theory and practical assessments.
- Learn through interactive presentations, trainer demonstrations, and realistic hands-on practice with manikins, AED, and first aid equipment.
Practical Activities Include
- Performing CPR on adult, child, and infant manikins.
- Operating an AED.
- Managing an unresponsive casualty, including placing them in the recovery position.
- Treating injuries such as minor bleeding, nose-bleeds, burns, fractures/sprains/strains, and envenomation.
- Recognising and responding to asthma, anaphylaxis, choking, and other medical emergencies.
- Coordinating with others during an emergency scenario.
- Completing workplace documentation such as incident reports.
Assessment
You’ll complete:
- Knowledge assessment (multiple choice theory questions).
- Practical assessments to demonstrate CPR, AED use, and first aid management in line with ARC guidelines and first aid standards.
- An incident report.

Entry Requirements
To fully participate and stay safe during practical activities, you should meet the following:
General Requirements
- Proof of identity must be supplied by you on the day of training.
- You must be at least 14 years of age to participate in the training
- Students under 18 years of age must supply parental consent (unless you are linked to an employer)
- You need a Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you do not have one, you can apply for it for free at www.usi.gov.au
Language, Literacy, Numeracy & Digital (LLND)
You should be able to:
- Read and follow simple written instructions and safety procedures (basic reading and writing at Year 10 level).
- Complete basic written reports.
- Follow verbal instructions from your trainer.
- Use a digital device (tablet/smartphone/laptop) for assessments
Physical Requirements
You need to:
- Be physically able to perform CPR on the floor for at least two minutes.
- Be able to kneel, bend, and perform compressions and breaths effectively.
- Be able to assist casualties safely and confidently.
- Use rescue equipment without assistance.
