With the 2021 Shute Shield well underway, the Newcastle Herald recently caught up with Peter Maxwell to discuss how we’re supporting the Wildfires’ players this year.
As a 2021 sponsor of the Hunter Wildfires, Maxwell Recruitment & Training is providing the men’s and women’s teams with free training and onboarding for labour hire.
Already this program has helped 15 of the Wildfires’ players get into training and work quickly, and we’re looking forward to growing that number as the season continues.
To find out more the program, the Newcastle Herald recently spoke with Peter and in today’s Herald has written about its early success, as well as Peter’s history in rugby and with the Wildfires.
I have travelled a lot playing rugby. For most of that time, I have needed do work while I playing. I know how important it is. If a player is sorted off the field with employment and income it makes a difference on the field. We provide free training to all the players in nationally accredited courses that help me place them into work. It also up-skills them for future employment.
Now that I’m not playing it is has been good to meet the guys and the girls. They are accomplished players, a lot with professional backgrounds. It has been enjoyable to be able to help them out. Newcastle is such a good place. That has been a big attraction piece for the Wildfires. If people are employed and earning money, everything else becomes pretty easy.
