Achieving Competency
Competency is only achieved when you answer 100% of the questions correctly.
A student who has not achieved ‘Competent’ for each of the assessments and therefore to be deemed ‘Not Yet Competent’ cannot receive a Statement of Attainment (SOA).
To gain overall competency in the unit, both the theory and practical assessment criteria must be met. All questions must be answered correctly for ‘Competent’ performance.
Submission of Evidence
An assessment of competence is dependent on submission of evidence that supports your underpinning knowledge and ability to perform the tasks relating directly to the learning outcomes and performance criteria described in the particular study unit.
At this level we will need to collect evidence in the form of completion of online theory questions and completion of a practical task at Maxwell Recruitment & Training’s facility. Please note that the practical assessment will be stopped by your assessor if they believe it is unsafe to continue.
Assessments
Your course comprises of online theory and practical assessments.
In the event that you have difficulty understanding the assessment tasks due to language or other difficulties, please contact us and your assessor will attempt to make reasonable adjustments in order to afford you every opportunity to achieve competency. This might include:
- Completion of this assessment verbally, with the instructor recording your responses.
- Completion of this assessment in person, with the responses submitted manually under examination conditions set by your assessor.
Assessment Submission
Assessments must be completed online and you must submit all required information to us. Failure to complete the assessment requirements will result in no issuance of any form of Statement of Attainment and you will be required to redo the assessment.
Resubmissions
If you receive a ‘NYC’ for an assessment, you may resubmit the assessment twice. If you still do not pass or obtain competency from those three opportunities or obtain ‘Competent’ for the Unit of Competency, you must re-enrol in the entire course.
Appeals
You may lodge an appeal against the outcome given to any assessment. An outline of this detailed process can be found in the Resources page of the Maxwell Recruitment & Training website.
