Confined Space Standby (Refresher)
This course is designed for experienced personnel employed in operational roles entering and working in confined spaces including acting as a Standby and working with Permit Controls Systems. 
Students must hold ALL of the following Units to be eligible for this refresher course.

RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces 3 years
RIIRIS201E Conduct local risk control 3 years
MSMPER200 Work in accordance with an issued permit 3 years
MSMPER300 Issue work permits 3 years
MSMPER202 Observe permit work 3 years
MSMWHS217 Gas test atmospheres 3 years
MSMWHS201 Conduct hazard analysis
(Note: MSMWHS201 Conduct hazard analysis is a prerequisite to the unit MMSPER300 Issue work permits)

Course Description
This course is designed for experienced personnel employed in operational roles entering and working in confined spaces including acting as a Standby and working with Permit Controls Systems.

  • RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces
  • RIIRIS201E Conduct local risk control
  • MSMPER200 Work in accordance with an issued permit
  • MSMPER300 Issue work permits
  • MSMPER202 Observe permit work
  • MSMWHS217 Gas test atmospheres
  • MSMWHS201 Conduct hazard analysis
    (Note: MSMWHS201 Conduct hazard analysis is a prerequisite to the unit MMSPER300 Issue work permits)

Entry Requirements
To be accepted into the program, applicants must provide evidence of successfully completing the current units of competency outlined above, in the last three (3) years. Evidence must be in the form of a nationally recognised qualification or statement of attainment. 

Physical Requirements
Students must have the physical ability to complete the practical aspects of entering and working in confined spaces and associated tasks. Tasks may include but not limited to, climbing ladders whilst maintaining three (3) points of contact, being suspended in a full body harness and crawling through confined spaces. 

Demonstrating Competency
On successful completion of the course, students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.  Students will receive recognition of refresher training for the units of competency they have been previously issued.

Prerequisites
MSMWHS201 Conduct Hazard analysis is a pre-requisite unit to MSMPER300 Issue Work Permits

Entry Requirements
Students are required to have the physical ability to successfully complete the practical aspects of entering and working in confined spaces and associated tasks. These may include, but are not limited to climbing ladders whilst maintaining three points of contact, donning and wearing a full body harness and being suspended in full body harness, entering and working in a confined space and manual handling

Language, Literacy and Numeracy

Due to previous successful completion of all units of competency offered in this program, completing a language literacy and numeracy assessment is optional. If you feel you would benefit from undertaking the LLN assessment before making a commitment to enrol, please contact the Training Coordinator on 1300 MAXWEL (1300 629 935) 

Delivery Method
This course is delivered entirely face to face with a combination of theoretical and practical components.

Assessment Process
Assessment methods include:
Knowledge questions
Practical demonstration in a simulated environment
Completion of various workplace forms and documents


Students must provide
  • Lunch
  • Safety helmet with chin strap
  • Safety gloves
  • Long work pants (jeans are acceptable)
  • long sleeved work shirt
  • steel cap boots

  • Tea and coffee facilities
  • A lunch truck attends the training site daily 

Award
Upon successful completion, students will be warded with a nationally recognised statement of attainment from Maxwell Training Pty Ltd.
